Interpersonal communication
Principles of Effective Communication
General communication
General communication is how we communicate with each other generally. This is how we communicate to others with a cultural difference, how accurately we communicate and get our point across to others. General communication also uses technology, the tone of our voice, and by asking questions and answers to communicate. General communication is vital when communicating with customers and employees in Rainbow Light because if their is a communication breakdown then the business will not operate correctly.
Question and answers
This is a good way to interact with the audience, it can be used many different times while interacting with other people. It will also tell you how much your audience has been listening by the questions they ask. The questions and answers will help the listener understand the topic only if the reader only touched on it they can go back and ask questions on that topic and revive more information
Engaging an audience
While speaking you have got to keep you audience interested you can do this in many ways, one ways is speaking in different tones of voice so you’re not boring your listener. Another idea would be to use the likes of presentations to keep them focused on the topic. You can also do the same when having a one to one with some one to hold there attention you can use multimedia like PowerPoint, music etc.
Written communication
Written communication is a type of communicating with others through the use of letters, E-Mails, Fax, Chats, Texting, MSN, BBM, Forums Social Networking. Written communication skills are fundamental to many jobs. This isn't just about being able to write clear English. It is about understanding how to convey information effectively. Nowadays it’s a lot easier to write letters, fax people talk to people trough the web Etc it can all be done on computers you can do all most any type of written communication on the computers.
Why are written communication important in the Rainbow Light charity
E-Mails
E-Mail would be an important way of commutating in the company to contact with other members, other people and their clients. Nowadays you can send E-Mails from almost any where by using phones, tablets, computers, laptops etc. you can attach a lot of different types of documents such as word, PowerPoint, excel and even WebPages.
Letters
In Rainbow Light a good way to commutate with your employees and clients is trough letters, it is a good way to commutate with the people. Letters can be use for formal and informal commutation between others. It is a easy way to commutate with people because you can do it with out using computers etc it can be in writing, but on the other hand you are able to do it on the computer. Letters are good in a company because you can use mail merge to send the same letter to any number of contacts you can also you mail merge for emails.
Interpersonal communication
Interpersonal communication is the process by which people exchange information, feelings, and meaning through verbal and non-verbal messages: it is face-to-face communication. Interpersonal communication is not just about what is actually said - the language used - but how it is said and the non-verbal messages sent through tone of voice, facial expressions, gestures and body language.
There are many different interpersonal skills. These are skills such as the speed of response to answering questions, positive and negative language and the types of questions asked e.g. I feel that my interpersonal skills have improved a lot through the time I have been doing the I.C.T course and I use them a lot more during different courses in school and in general day to day life. The main interpersonal skill I use everyday is positive and negative language. I use this a lot within working in Sainsbury's as I am dealing with customers all the time so I must make sure I use the appropriate language at all times
Body Language:
Volunteers within Rainbow light would need to show good body language when dealing with others, people can tell many things from a person body language such as if they are sitting up straight with good posture and paying attention this tells people that they are alert and also ready to listen or complete a task. Where as if a person is slouched over and looks tired this shows other people that they are very laid back and that they don’t really want to be where they are.
Listening:
This is also a interpersonal skill as people might think it is easy but to correctly listen and take not of what a person is saying and react properly can be difficult as if you do not understand what the person is talking about or if it is something you know very little about this can make you not be interested and there for can cause you to not listen.
What are interpersonal skills?
Good interpersonal skills would include the language used when speaking to another person, you would need to speak clear and slow so the other person could understand what is being said.
What makes interpersonal skill bad?
Bad interpersonal skills would be when you are not looking at the person you are speaking to so therefore it looks like you are not paying any attention.
Barrier to communication
Barriers are any thing that can restrain your progress in what you are doing, Anything that prevents understanding of the message is a barrier to communication. Many physical and psychological barriers exist.
General Communication Skills
There are many barriers that could take place when communicating with people using technology like the audience not being familiar with the use of technology and also hardware problems such as not enough ram, software problems could cause the computer to run slow or lag. If the user has restrictions setup in the firewall of their PC they may experience problems while trying to connect with the people they are communicating with because the firewall will block access to them.
Interpersonal Skills
Background noise can be disruptive when people are communicating and can therefore act as a barrier to communication.
Examples of disruptive background noises could include noises from outside, loud voices, construction work, telephones ringing or others using the telephone and talking loudly, noises from IT equipment such as printers or the hum of computers and the noise of air conditioning.
Background noises can block out what a speaker is saying by diverting the attention of the person they are talking to and making them lack concentration on what the speaker is saying.

Written Communication
A barrier to written communication skills would be bad spelling and grammar bad use of no headings, mixed up fonts, text too small or to large. Spelling and grammar is very important in most business’s so it has to be correct and no mistakes. An example of a bad spelling and grammar mistake could be if someone is going for an interview at a business and has several spelling mistakes. If the employer see’s several mistakes they will not take that person on. Another example of bad spelling and grammar could be if there was a notice put up for employers of the business or e-mailed to them and there is many mistakes in it people will get confused and I might misunderstand the notice. A way of reducing the impact of a barrier for written communication would be to make sure that the employee has the qualifications to do the job which is required.

Employee Attributes
Employee Attributes
Attributes: An attribute is a characteristic, skill or a quality. There are many different types of attributes and employers look for certain attributes in a person when they are applying for a job. These attributes can vary with the type of job role you are applying for. There three different types of attributes in general; specific, general and attitudes
Specific Attribute
Being a full time employee at the Rainbow Light you need to have ICT skills as specific attribute. The reasons you need to have these skills to carry out their jobs. ICT in the job is an essential role because you are supporting people with poor ICT skills and creating audio books. This would involve using recording software and burning the sound on to disks and then explaining to people how to use them.
General Attribute
Also working for the Rainbow light you would need to have general attributes that would help you in almost any job. These would be the likes of Verbal, Written and Non-Verbal
Verbal: communication skills would be used when creating “talking books” for the clients or when speaking to management or even the clients. Good verbal communication skills are vital to giving a good impression of yourself. You will want to portray confidence and charisma.
Written: this is when you are writing a letter emails or even advertisements for papers etc you written skills have to be of a good standard to be able to communicate with clients. Poor wording and bad spelling will not look professional.
Non-Verbal: this would be like your body language and visual cues, this would be seen more in meetings etc.
Attitude 1
As you would be working on your own most of the time, it would help to have an independent attitude and to be able to show initiative and perform tasks on your own. An attitude like this shows determination and leadership when you are able to go ahead and do you own work without need for instruction; such as updating the blog and solving problems on your own.
Attitude 2
Independent: employers within rainbow light need to be independent and be able to take control of any situation while at work, they need to have the skill to work independently if asked to do so and when asked to do so they need to be able to complete the task assigned to them on time.

Learning styles
A learning style is the method a person uses to learn. By knowing a student's learning style, a teacher can use teaching methods that maximize student learning. Students can use recognition of their individual learning styles to find what study methods, environment, and activities help them learn best.
The aural learning style is one of the most well-known learning styles. Many people learn this way. An aural learner soaks up information the easiest when it is presented in an auditory way. Speaking, listening and music all come naturally to the aural learner.
INTAKE
· Attend classes
· Attend discussions and tutorials
· Discuss topics with others
· Discuss topics with your teachers
· Explain new ideas to other people
Visual - The people that rather visual learning like to learn by seeing the things such as charts and pictures, they also like when the things are colour coded so it is easier to read and follow

Physical - Physical learning is when you are all hands on learning such as when looking at the parts of a computer they would rather have them in there hands instead on looking at them on paper, they also like sports and exercise, and when learning about something new you would rater jump straight in to it instead of reading instructions

You know your direction in life and work. You prefer to work for yourself, or have thought a lot about it.
Independent
Private
Taking notes/journals/refer back
Not good talking
Quite with people
I got these results by going on to the website and completing the quiz, the web site is http://www.learning-styles-online.com/overview/
These are the results I got when I completed the quiz as you can see I am more of a social and physical learner witch is right be cause I would rather work in a group and take things apart and rebuild them, I also like to play sports and do exercise. So the quiz was correct.
Knowing this does help me is some ways because when I am revising I would rather take my time and look at it physically and understand it.
I find it a lot easier to study and learn when I know how to such as I would rather learn in a group and in a physical way this makes it easier to learn because you know where your strong points are so therefore you can work on them areas but you can also work on your weak points and improve on them.
